The Club was formed in 1965 at Hatfield Swimming Pool. Its ethos, as a roots-based club, is to serve the local community, but also the club seeks to offer oppertunities for all of its members to achieve their highest levels in a friendly and purposeful environment.
Our chief coach is Nick Juba, who has been with the club since 1993. He is assisted currently by our other coaches, teachers and helpers on the poolside coaching our swimmers – Bernie Wilkins, Dave Barnard, Mike Brittan, Anne Smith and Geoff Bacon.
One of our coaches will test the swimmers in the water to see what their abilities are. If they are acceptable and do wish to join, they will be offered a 2-week free trial (that is 4 club nights). This is for them to see if it is what they want to do, and for the club
Where do I swim?
At present, we swim at the Hatfield Swim Centre for all of our club sessions. This is a 6 lane, 36 2/3 yards pool (ie 3 lengths is just over 100m).
The pools address is Hatfield Swim Centre, Lemsford Road, Hatfield, Herts, AL10 0EB.
The contact phone number is 01707-264487.
Squads also train at various other pools around the county
When do I swim?
When you join HSC, your membership entitles you to swim on a Monday and Friday evening between 6:30 and 8:30. The actual time and duration depends on the group you swim in. Normally, new joiners swim between 6:30 and 7:30. Masters swim between 8:30 and 9:15pm on a Monday and Friday. Water Polo starts at 9:15pm, and continues to about 10:00, again on Mondays and Fridays.
